The Reality of trying to Make Money from Blogging

I have been looking around for information on making money blogging... Again...

I learned something that I really already knew, but when you hear something from an authority sometimes it sinks in a little better for some reason.

anyway, I am reading what this internet marketing expert was saying about some of the websites that he has made millions off of, and the way he looks at blogging content is as follows...

For each original quality page you get indexed in google you will average around 10 visitors each month. He made it clear you can't just copy some PLR (private label rights) site and think that is going to do anything.

He also estimated that around 1000 page views would earn you close to $10 on the average from one of the ad networks, some pages would be a lot more and some a lot less, but from his statistics of hundreds of millions of pages this is what he came out with.

So for every $1000 you want to make you need to plan on around 100,000 page views, and to get that you need around 10,000 pages indexed.

Doing this yourself writing articles at a page per hour you can do 8 pages a day if you never take a day off that's 2,920 pages a year, so 3.4 years to get to $1000 per month, if you never take a break, assuming you start out with pages that were optimized as well as his.

Then the real kicker was that he said the last problem was that this type of business plan would only work for a limited time. Because the search engines will discount your pages over time, they have a short shelf life. So by the time you put your 3 or 4 years in, your first pages may be no good any longer and you have to start all over again.

This is also assuming that you picked the right subjects to write about and that your pages are optimized to get to this level.

This is why I have pretty much give up on the idea of ever making any money from any of the ad networks off a blog.

The real kicker was that this guy who had made hundreds of thousands of dollars from his ads, currently doesn't use any ads at all on his blogs.

So you have to ask yourself, if an expert in the field doesn't use ad networks on his blog because they are not really worth his time, then what chance do you have.
