Microsoft MSN homepage RSS feed really sucks

Microsoft’s MSN homepage RSS feed sucks, it is so bad right now it’s a complete waste of time.

Reasons why:

  1. You can’t add pages to their MSN feed, I tell it the exact URL and it says check back later.  I look up sites in their MSN search engine.  They have the site listed but it looks like their RSS feed has its own search engine, only they forgot to put any sites in it.  So every time you try to add something it tells you that you can’t. Why don’t they just use the sites in their own search engine? And why can’t they add a page when you give them the exact URL. No you have to wait until they find it, maybe in 10 years they will have a few URL’s listed so you can use their service check back then.

  2. If you add a page it won’t read it.  I deleted most of the feeds that won’t work but I would guess I added a total of around 30, more than 15 of the 30 will not pick up information that I know is there.  This makes their RSS feed basically worthless.

  3. They keep it a secret how to add their RSS button to your website.  The only way I could figure out how to do it is search around on Google until you can find a site that has a RSS add button for MSN.  This is not easy because there are not many of them out there.  If you can find one then copy it from that site.  The MSN site will not tell you how to add a page I guess they are trying to keep people from using their service.

So just use Yahoo homepage it works about 100 times better and actually does something useful not just waste your time like the MSN homepage RSS feed.
