Desktop blogging Tools For Easier Publishing

Desktop blogging tools – once again I am surprised how many hours I had to spend searching to come up with just a few stand alone blogging editors.

If you do much posting to your blog you probably get tired of losing posts with browser based editors, not to mention the long wait that you sometimes have. I know I am tired of it.

Offline blog authoring tools can really save your life. I have tried using a word processor to write my text, then pasting it into Bloggers posting form, but that gets old fast.

I am currently using Blogger and Microsoft Word and it works fantastic, but I am thinking about starting up another blog and looking into all my options.  This is what I came up with:

Microsoft Word is my all time favorite, of course it only works with Blogger.
If you already have Word then this one is free.

It’s fast and easy, but a little limited in what it lets you do. No links modifications, pictures, or tables.  It just sends text but it does that really well.  If I want to add a picture or table I first publish the page then go to bloggers site and add what I need to.  It’s an extra step but I don’t do that much of it so it works for me.

This one seems to be the most accessible on the internet, I found it first and ran into it more than all the rest.  This is probably the one I will try next.

Looks like ecto is a publishing tool for the Mac, and they also have a windows version too.

Not sure about the name, but a couple of people I trust recommended this product so it works well for some bloggers.

no spell checking so I can’t use this one.

Here is their description:

  • Slug, a minimal client for MovableType 2.1 or better.   This is a fast, minimal client. If you're looking for fancy, try elsewhere.

It looks like they no not have a spelling checker.
