What does Bump mean?

I keep reading “Bump” on all these forums, and I keep thinking what the heck is bump?

Today for the umpteenth time I see bump, I am thinking it is some kind of attaboy or “good job guys” but I can’t take it any more so I start searching google for bump.

I hit this site:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bump_(internet)

And basically it says:

You bump a thread on an internet discussion forum in order to raise the thread's profile by returning it to the top of the list of active threads.

Get it back on the front page, and this practice of bumping threads is not liked by some people.

Thank god I got to the bottom of this now I can go on with my life.

I was about to go bump.
